Lance Omeje was born and raised in Abiya village, located in northeastern Uganda. He then immigrated to the United States where he attended college and completed a fulfilling career in education. Now in retirement, Lance is returning home to give back to his community.

Lance was motivated to give back to Abiya when upon a long-awaited return, he noticed that students were still gathering under Mango trees to attend school, without books, electricity or a facility. Read Lance's story here.

Ibeneneka Learning Center opened it's doors in January 2024. Three buildings have been completed and include classrooms, a library, office, and latrines. Currently, solar panels are being installed for power and a well with plumbing  is being constructed.
